Access Control

Access Control Systems in West Sussex & the South East

Paxton door entry, keyless access and smart lock systems for offices, commercial buildings and residential developments. Control who enters your property, when, and keep a full audit trail. Designed and installed by NICEIC approved engineers.

Who is access control for?

Offices & commercial

Control entry to your building, individual floors and restricted areas. Issue and revoke credentials instantly. Track who entered where and when with a full audit trail. Ideal for offices, co-working spaces and multi-tenant buildings.

Residential developments

Secure communal entrances, car parks and bin stores with door entry systems. Residents use fobs, cards or smartphone access. Visitor management and intercom integration keep buildings safe without compromising convenience.

Public sector & education

Schools, council buildings and healthcare facilities need controlled access with visitor management, lockdown capability and integration with fire alarm systems. We design compliant systems that meet safeguarding requirements.

What is included in an access control system?

  • Paxton Net2 or Paxton10 networked access control
  • Proximity readers, smart card readers or biometric options
  • PaxLock wireless smart door handles — no wiring to the door
  • Video door entry with intercom and remote unlock
  • Cloud-based management via Paxton Connect — add/remove users from anywhere
  • Full audit trail — see who accessed which door and when
  • Time-based access rules — restrict entry by day, time or user group
  • Integration with fire alarm systems for emergency door release
  • Magnetic locks, electric strikes and automatic door closers
  • Full commissioning, user setup and administrator training

Integrate access control with CCTV and alarms

Link door access events to camera footage for visual verification. Trigger alarm zones when unauthorised access is attempted. One integrated security system, one contractor.

Our access control installation process

1

Site survey & consultation

We assess your building, identify controlled entry points, discuss user requirements and review existing door hardware. We determine whether wired, wireless or hybrid access control is best.

2

System design & quote

We specify readers, locks, controllers and software. You receive an itemised quote with a door schedule showing exactly what goes where. No hidden costs.

3

Installation

Our engineers install readers, locks, controllers and cabling. PaxLock wireless handles require no door wiring — ideal for retrofits. We coordinate with your building management to minimise disruption.

4

Configuration & user setup

We program access levels, time schedules, user groups and door behaviours. We set up Paxton Connect cloud management and create your initial user credentials.

5

Training & handover

We train your administrator on adding/removing users, running reports, managing visitors and troubleshooting. Full documentation and system credentials provided.

What affects access control cost?

Number of doors

Each controlled door needs a reader, lock and controller. A small office may need 2–4 doors. A multi-floor building could need 20+. More doors mean more hardware and cabling.

Lock type

Magnetic locks are cost-effective. Electric strikes integrate with existing door hardware. PaxLock wireless handles eliminate door wiring entirely — ideal for retrofits but cost more per unit.

Reader type

Proximity card readers are the most affordable. Smart card readers offer better security. Biometric (fingerprint) readers cost more but eliminate lost or shared credentials.

Wired vs wireless

Wired systems are more reliable for permanent installations. Wireless PaxLock handles reduce installation time and cost for retrofit projects. Hybrid systems combine both approaches.

Software & cloud access

Paxton10 includes cloud management at no ongoing cost. Net2 requires on-site server software. Cloud access lets you manage users and view reports from anywhere.

Integration requirements

Linking access control with CCTV, alarms or fire systems adds configuration time. Video door entry with intercom adds hardware cost but improves visitor management.

Small office (2–4 doors): typically £1,500 – £4,000  |  Multi-door commercial: £5,000 – £20,000+

Exact pricing depends on door count, lock type and integration. We provide a detailed quote after your free site survey.

Common access control mistakes

1.

Using keys instead of access control

Keys can be copied, lost or stolen with no audit trail. When an employee leaves, you have to change every lock they had a key to. Access control lets you revoke a credential in seconds — no locksmith needed.

2.

Not planning for growth

Installing a system that only handles your current door count means expensive upgrades later. We specify scalable systems that grow with your business — add doors, users and sites without replacing the core platform.

3.

Ignoring fire safety integration

Access-controlled doors must release automatically during a fire alarm. Failing to integrate with your fire system is a serious compliance risk. We ensure every controlled door meets fire safety regulations.

4.

No audit trail or reporting

Without proper reporting, you cannot prove who was in the building at any given time. This matters for insurance claims, HR investigations and compliance. Paxton systems log every event automatically.
