Centralised Access Control, CCTV & Managed Networks Across 16 Residential Properties
Omni3 designed and installed an integrated access, security and connectivity solution for a supported accommodation provider — covering access control, video intercoms, CCTV and managed Wi-Fi networks across a portfolio of 16 properties.

The challenge
A supported accommodation provider operating across 16 residential properties needed a practical way to manage resident access without relying on conventional physical key management. With residents moving in and out across a dispersed portfolio, the administrative overhead and security exposure of issuing, tracking and recovering physical keys had become operationally unacceptable.
The brief extended beyond access management. The client also needed to address visitor access at front entrances, individual room security across the full portfolio, communal-area monitoring, external building security, reliable internet connectivity for residents and staff, and clear separation between staff and resident network traffic.
With 16 separate buildings involved, fragmented point-by-point solutions were not practical. The client needed a single contractor capable of designing, installing and commissioning all elements as one coherent system — and providing a single point of contact for ongoing management.
The solution
Omni3 designed and installed an integrated access, security and connectivity solution across all 16 residential properties. Every element — access control, video entry, CCTV and network infrastructure — was designed as part of the same programme, with shared cabling infrastructure and a single management framework across the portfolio.
Centralised access control — approximately 300 doors
Omni3 designed and installed the Paxton access control solution across the 16-property portfolio. Approximately 300 doors were brought into a centrally managed system, with keyless entry fitted to every individual room — removing the need for physical room keys entirely. The management team gained the ability to grant or revoke resident access across all properties simultaneously, without any requirement to visit a site or recover a key.
Video intercom on all main entrances
Every main and front entrance across the 16 properties received a Paxton video intercom system, allowing visitors to be screened and admitted remotely before being granted entry.
CCTV — communal areas and external coverage
Hikvision CCTV was installed throughout communal areas and around the external areas of the buildings across all 16 properties. Camera coverage was designed to address the specific layout of each building — communal corridors, entrance areas, stairwells and external approaches — providing consistent coverage standards across the portfolio rather than building-by-building variation.
Broadband, managed Wi-Fi and VLAN segmentation
Omni3 provisioned broadband connectivity across the properties and installed managed wireless networks using DrayTek infrastructure and a mesh Wi-Fi architecture. Rather than deploying consumer-grade access points, the network was built to support the demands of multiple simultaneous users per property, with reliable coverage throughout each building.
Staff and resident network traffic was separated using VLAN segmentation — ensuring that the management and operational network used by staff remained isolated from the resident connectivity environment. This prevents resident traffic from interfering with operational systems and maintains a clear separation between the two network environments across the entire portfolio.
The access control and CCTV systems run on the managed network infrastructure, supported by structured cabling installed by Omni3 as part of the same programme.
The outcome
Across 16 properties and approximately 300 doors, the management team moved from physical key management to centralised, software-managed access control. The operational change this represents is significant:
- Resident access can be granted or revoked immediately from a single platform, without visiting any property or managing physical keys.
- Keyless entry on every individual room removes the cost, delay and security exposure of key duplication, loss and recovery.
- Video intercoms on all main entrances give the management team visibility and control of visitor access across the portfolio.
- CCTV across communal and external areas provides consistent coverage standards across all properties.
- Staff and resident network traffic is separated, protecting operational systems from the general resident connectivity environment.
- A single contractor — Omni3 — is responsible for access control, intercoms, CCTV, broadband and network infrastructure across the entire portfolio.
