The challenge
A premium residential property management company required dependable, professionally designed connectivity across a portfolio of more than 10 managed properties. The requirement went well beyond simply providing a broadband connection at each building.
Each property needed reliable internet connectivity, strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout the building, correctly positioned wireless access points, structured cabling to support the network, and professionally configured routing and switching. The client also needed a consistent, repeatable approach across the portfolio — not a different setup at every property.
Coordinating separate suppliers for broadband, cabling and network equipment across a multi-property portfolio creates significant management overhead and makes it difficult to maintain consistent standards. The client needed a single contractor capable of designing and delivering the complete connection path — from the incoming service to the end-user Wi-Fi experience — across all properties.
The solution
Omni3 designed and installed a complete connectivity solution across more than 10 managed residential properties. By delivering the broadband service, structured cabling and active network equipment as one project, Omni3 was able to design the complete connection path from the incoming broadband service through to the end-user Wi-Fi experience — with consistent standards applied across the full portfolio.
Fibre broadband supplied by Omni3
Omni3 supplied and provisioned the fibre broadband service for the properties. The broadband service and on-site network infrastructure were delivered through Omni3 as a single managed solution — one supplier responsible for the connectivity from the point of delivery into the building through to the active network equipment beyond it.
Having Omni3 supply the broadband service as well as install the internal network removes the coordination overhead of managing two separate parties, and means the network equipment can be configured specifically around the characteristics of the incoming service from the outset.
Structured cabling
Omni3 designed and installed the structured cabling at each property to support the routers, switches and wireless access points. The physical cabling infrastructure was designed as part of the network layout rather than as an afterthought — ensuring cable routes and termination points were planned around the intended device locations and coverage requirements.
Treating the cabling design as part of the same project as the active network equipment produces a cleaner installation — cables run correctly to the right locations from the outset, rather than adapting equipment placement to existing cable routes.
DrayTek routing and switching
Each property was equipped with DrayTek routing and switching infrastructure, configured and managed by Omni3 as a DrayTek business network and Wi-Fi installation. DrayTek business routers provide reliable routing, firewall capability and network management without the complexity and cost of enterprise equipment that would be disproportionate for residential properties.
Omni3 is a DrayTek Approved Partner and DCNA trained, giving us the product knowledge to configure DrayTek equipment properly for business networking requirements rather than relying on basic out-of-the-box setup. The same DrayTek platform across all properties also means consistent configuration standards and simpler ongoing management across the portfolio.
Wi-Fi coverage design and AX-band access points
DrayTek AX-band wireless access points were deployed at each property. Rather than fitting access points in convenient locations and accepting the coverage that results, Omni3 considered wireless coverage as an integral part of the network design. Access point positions were selected around the layout and coverage requirements of each property to provide strong, consistent wireless coverage throughout the buildings.
AX-band (Wi-Fi 6) access points provide higher capacity and better performance in environments where multiple devices connect simultaneously — appropriate for managed residential properties where connectivity is part of the proposition being offered to residents.
Because Omni3 also installed the cabling, the access points were cabled to the planned positions rather than compromising placement to reach existing cable locations.
