Project Overview
Omni3 was appointed by a solar installation company to complete the battery storage and inverter element of a residential solar PV project. The principal contractor was responsible for the roof-mounted solar panel installation, all associated roof work, and the overall customer contract.
Omni3's engagement was limited to our agreed scope: the technical installation, electrical connection, testing and commissioning of the Fox ESS battery and inverter system — including the installation of a new consumer unit and generation meter. The property is located in Wiltshire; this project falls outside Omni3's primary service area and was undertaken as a subcontract assignment on behalf of an industry partner.
Working with Other Contractors
This project required close coordination between Omni3 and the principal solar contractor. Effective sequencing of work between trades — including preparation of cable routes, equipment positioning and the handover of commissioning data — was key to a smooth installation.
Solar installation companies frequently require qualified electrical and commissioning support for the battery and inverter element of a project — whether that's on new installations, inverter replacements, retrofit battery additions, fault diagnosis or final sign-off. Omni3 works with solar contractors as a trusted installation and commissioning partner, handling the technical electrical work while the principal contractor manages the customer relationship and overall project.

Omni3's Scope of Work
The following items were completed by Omni3 within the agreed subcontract scope. Omni3 did not carry out roof work, did not install the solar panels, and did not hold the direct customer contract for the overall project.
- Installation of the Fox ESS hybrid inverter
- Installation of the Fox ESS battery storage unit
- Installation of a new consumer unit
- Installation of a generation meter
- AC and DC electrical connections within Omni3's agreed scope
- Installation of isolators, protective devices and associated electrical equipment
- Connection of metering equipment, CT clamps and communications equipment
- System configuration — battery and inverter setup and operational parameters
- Electrical inspection and testing
- Commissioning of the battery and inverter system
- Confirmation of correct charging, discharging and system monitoring operation
- Handover of commissioning documentation to the principal contractor
Installation Outcome
The Fox ESS battery and inverter system was installed, tested, configured and commissioned in accordance with Omni3's agreed scope of work. The new consumer unit and generation meter were installed as part of the same scope. Commissioning documentation was completed and handed over to the principal contractor for integration into their overall project records.
The system was confirmed as operating correctly — including charging, discharging and system monitoring functions — and was ready for integration with the solar PV system installed by the principal contractor.
Omni3 provides solar PV, battery storage and inverter installation services primarily across West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and selected areas of the South East. This Wiltshire project was completed on behalf of an industry partner.
