Price scenarios
Basic home system
2–4 cameras
Two to four Hikvision turret cameras covering the front entrance and driveway. A compact NVR with 2–4 weeks of recording. Hik-Connect app for remote viewing. Ideal for terraced or semi-detached homes with straightforward cable runs.
Typical home system
4–8 cameras
Four to eight cameras providing full perimeter coverage — front, rear, side access and garden. AcuSense AI detection to filter false alerts. ColorVu night vision for full-colour footage after dark. 30-day continuous recording with remote access. The most popular option for detached homes.
Commercial system
8+ cameras
Eight or more cameras with HD or 4K resolution. Perimeter line-crossing detection, people counting and licence plate recognition. Enterprise NVR with extended storage and redundancy. PoE cabling throughout. Scalable for multi-site operations. Ideal for offices, retail, warehouses and industrial premises.
What affects CCTV installation cost?
Number of cameras
Each additional camera adds hardware, cabling and NVR storage requirements. A 2-camera home system is significantly cheaper than an 8-camera commercial setup.
Cable routing difficulty
Short, accessible cable runs keep costs down. Routing through solid walls, across ceilings, externally along brickwork or underground adds labour and materials.
Camera type and resolution
Standard 2MP HD cameras are the most affordable. 4MP offers sharper detail. 4K (8MP) provides the best evidence quality. AI features like AcuSense and ColorVu night vision cost more but dramatically improve performance.
Recording system (NVR/DVR)
More cameras and higher resolution require a larger NVR with bigger hard drives. We typically specify 30 days of continuous recording. Extended retention or RAID redundancy adds cost.
Remote viewing setup
Every system includes the Hik-Connect app for smartphone access. If your property lacks a reliable internet connection, additional networking equipment may be needed.
Installation time and access
Single-storey properties are quicker to install than multi-storey buildings. Difficult access — scaffolding, cherry pickers or restricted working areas — increases labour time and cost.

How to get an accurate quote
Every property is different. Online estimates cannot account for cable routing, camera positions, mounting surfaces or the specific coverage you need. That is why we carry out a free site survey before quoting.
During the survey we walk around your property, identify vulnerable areas and entry points, assess cable routes and determine the best camera positions for maximum coverage. We discuss your priorities — deterrence, evidence, remote monitoring or all three.
You then receive a fixed, itemised quote with camera positions marked on a site plan. The quote includes every cost — cameras, NVR, cabling, installation, setup and handover. No surprises on installation day.
The survey takes around 20–30 minutes. There is no obligation and no pressure. If you decide to go ahead, most home installations are completed within two weeks of accepting the quote.
