Domestic Electrical Installation & Rewires in West Sussex
House rewires, partial rewires, new circuits and wiring for extensions and renovations across West Sussex. Planned electrical installation work for homeowners and property professionals. Omni3 is an NICEIC Approved Contractor based in Pulborough.
Planned domestic electrical installation work
We carry out planned domestic electrical installation work — rewires, new installations, extension wiring and new circuits. This is contracting work requiring a qualified, accredited team. It is not appliance servicing, repair or emergency call-outs.
Full house rewires
Complete replacement of all fixed wiring in the property — all circuits, accessories and consumer unit — from first fix through to testing, certification and handover. We work room by room to reduce disruption and leave the property safe and tidy at the end of each day.
Partial rewires
Where only part of the installation needs replacing — a specific floor, a group of circuits, or an area affected by renovation — a partial rewire replaces the defective elements and integrates cleanly with the circuits that remain.
Electrical installation for extensions
New extensions require a planned electrical installation from first fix through to final connection and certification. We design the circuits for the new space, install during the build programme and connect up at second fix — coordinating with the building work rather than running behind it.
Renovation and refurbishment wiring
Renovations are the right time to address the electrical installation. Running new wiring while floors and walls are open is significantly less disruptive than doing so later. We work within the build programme and can coordinate with other trades on site.
New circuits and additions
Additional sockets, new lighting circuits, dedicated supplies for EV chargers, solar inverters, cookers and other high-load appliances — all installed to BS 7671 and certified on completion.
Loft conversions
Loft conversions require a full electrical installation from the consumer unit upward. This typically includes lighting, sockets, potentially heating, smoke detection and stair lighting — planned around the conversion design and completed with full certification.
Recognising when your wiring needs replacing
A rewire is not always necessary — but where the wiring is old, deteriorating or inadequate for the current demands of the property, replacement is the right solution rather than accumulating repairs. The following are common situations where a full or partial rewire is appropriate.
Very old or rubber-insulated wiring
Properties wired before the 1970s often have rubber-insulated cables, or older cloth and lead-sheathed wiring, that has deteriorated with age. This type of wiring poses a safety risk and should be replaced.
Aluminium wiring
Some properties from the 1960s and 1970s were wired with aluminium conductors. These are not compatible with modern accessories and connections without specialist attention and are generally replaced during a rewire.
An unsatisfactory EICR
An Electrical Installation Condition Report that identifies significant C1 or C2 observations across the installation — particularly widespread deteriorating insulation or absent earthing — may indicate that remedial work alone is insufficient and a full or partial rewire is the appropriate solution.
Major renovation or extension
A significant renovation, loft conversion or extension is often the right time to rewire affected areas. Running new wiring while walls and ceilings are open reduces the disruption significantly compared to rewiring later.
Property purchase
An EICR carried out at the point of purchase reveals the condition of the installation. Where it is old or defective, rewiring before occupation is generally easier and less disruptive than doing so in a lived-in home.
Change of use
Converting a property — for example, into flats or an HMO — typically requires electrical work proportional to the change in use. New circuits, separate metering and upgraded protection are often needed alongside or instead of a full rewire.
From initial visit to certification
Site visit and assessment
We visit the property, assess the existing installation and discuss the scope of work — whether that is a full rewire, a partial replacement or new circuits for a specific project. For renovation and extension work, we review the build drawings or discuss the project with the builder where relevant.
Circuit design and quotation
We design the circuit layout, produce a schedule of circuits and accessories and provide a fixed, itemised quotation. For larger rewires we produce distribution board schedules and confirm the consumer unit specification.
First fix
Cable routes are chased, conduit installed where required, back boxes fitted and all cabling run to position. For renovation and extension work, first fix is timed to align with the build programme so wiring is in place before plastering.
Second fix and consumer unit
Accessories are fitted, the consumer unit is installed and connected, and all circuits are terminated. All work is carried out to BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
Testing and certification
Every installation is fully tested and inspected before being energised. You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate with the full test results. All notifiable work is registered with Building Control through Omni3's NICEIC registration.
Handover
We walk you through the completed installation, explain the consumer unit and any new equipment, and hand over all certificates and documentation. For properties with multiple trades involved, we coordinate certification with the overall project handover.
No hard-coded pricing
Rewire costs depend on the property — its size, age, type of existing wiring, access to cable routes and whether the property is occupied. We provide a fixed, itemised quotation after visiting the property. There is no charge for the initial visit.
