Who We Work With

Commercial solar for a wide range of properties and organisations

If your property has meaningful roof space or available ground area and a daytime electricity demand, it is worth assessing for solar. We survey a broad range of commercial property types across West Sussex and the South East.

Warehouses

Offset significant daytime electricity loads from large roof areas.

Industrial & Manufacturing

Reduce energy overheads on sites with sustained daytime consumption.

Offices & Business Parks

Lower occupancy costs and support ESG reporting.

Schools & Education

Cut running costs, support curriculum objectives and demonstrate environmental leadership.

Sports & Leisure

Reduce energy costs on facilities with high and consistent electricity demand.

Farms & Agricultural

Large roof and land areas make agricultural properties well suited to solar.

Retail

Offset daytime trading loads and reduce energy cost per square metre.

Hospitality

Hotels, pubs and restaurants can reduce energy spend and offer EV charging as an amenity.

Commercial Landlords

Improve asset value and appeal to ESG-conscious tenants.

Property Developers

Integrate solar into new build commercial and mixed-use schemes.

Public Sector

Local authorities, housing associations and public bodies reducing energy costs and carbon.

Other Commercial Premises

If your property has significant roof space and a daytime electricity load, it is worth assessing.

What We Install

Solar, battery storage and EV charging — designed as one system

Most commercial energy investments work best when the components are designed together from the outset, rather than added separately over time. Omni3 designs and installs integrated systems — with one team, one project plan and one commissioning process.

Solar PV

Rooftop and ground-mounted solar arrays sized to your energy profile and available roof or land area. Monocrystalline panels, commercial-grade inverters, DNO and G99 management included.

Battery Storage

Commercial battery storage for peak demand management, overnight grid charging and energy resilience. Designed to work with your solar system and electricity tariff.

EV Charging

Workplace and fleet EV charging infrastructure with load management. OZEV approved for grant-eligible installations. Solar-linked charging reduces your cost per kWh to near zero.

Financial Case

Understanding the commercial financial case

Commercial solar is a capital investment with a measurable annual return. The financial case is site-specific — shaped by your consumption profile, roof and system size, electricity rate, and available reliefs. The following is a factual summary to inform your initial thinking.

VAT — 20% standard rate

Commercial solar installations are subject to 20% standard rate VAT. The 0% rate that currently applies to residential installations does not extend to commercial premises. Budget for VAT at 20% on all equipment and labour costs.

VAT-registered businesses can reclaim input VAT in the normal way subject to their VAT recovery position.

Capital allowances — AIA

Commercial solar panels qualify for capital allowances as plant and machinery. They are classified as special-rate expenditure by HMRC and do not qualify for Full Expensing (which applies to main-rate assets only). Most businesses can claim the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA) — a 100% deduction against taxable profits in the year of purchase, up to £1 million annually.

Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances. Confirm your position with a qualified accountant.

Payback — indicative range

Commercial solar payback periods typically range from 5–9 years, with solar system lifespans of 20–25 years. Actual payback is highly site-specific and depends on system size, capital cost, electricity consumption profile, self-consumption ratio, electricity rate at the meter, and available tax relief. We model projected payback as part of your free site survey — we do not quote generic figures as a substitute for site-specific analysis.

Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)

Commercial solar installations up to 5 MW capacity may be eligible for SEG payments on electricity exported to the grid. For customers wishing to apply for a Smart Export Guarantee tariff, an installation completed by an MCS-certified installer forms an important part of the eligibility process. Omni3 Limited is MCS certified for Solar PV installation under MIS 3002. Customers must also meet the metering and individual requirements of their chosen SEG supplier. We provide the relevant installation documentation for qualifying MCS installations.

The Process

From survey to commissioning

Commercial solar projects involve more moving parts than residential installations — DNO applications, planning checks, structural assessments and procurement lead times all affect the programme. We manage the process end to end.

01

Free site survey

We assess your roof or land area, review your electricity bills and consumption pattern, check DNO availability for your location, and confirm planning status. No charge, no commitment.

02

System design

Energy yield modelling, structural assessment where required, inverter and panel specification, and integration design for battery storage and EV charging if applicable. We design around your energy profile, not a standard template.

03

DNO notification or application

Systems up to 3.68 kW per phase (up to 11.04 kW total on three-phase supplies) use the simpler G98 notification process. Systems above this threshold require a G99 application, submitted to your DNO before installation begins. For UK Power Networks — the DNO serving West Sussex — the full G99 process, from application to energisation, can take several months depending on network capacity and application complexity. We manage this process on your behalf and factor the programme into project planning from the outset.

04

Planning assessment

Commercial rooftop solar in England is generally permitted development under Class J of the GPDO, subject to dimensional conditions — panels must not exceed specified protrusion limits and the installation must not be on a listed building or in certain designated areas. Where planning permission is needed, we advise at survey stage. There is no capacity (MW) limit under Class J.

05

Procurement

We procure through our established wholesale accounts. Equipment lead times for commercial-scale systems vary and are confirmed during project development.

06

Installation

On-site duration varies by system scale, roof type, access requirements and the scope of associated electrical work. Every commercial project is delivered with a site-specific programme. We coordinate scaffold, access and operational constraints with you in advance.

07

Commissioning, testing and handover

Full electrical testing, DNO commissioning notification, monitoring configuration and a complete documentation pack — electrical installation certificate, commissioning report and product warranties. All work is NICEIC approved and certified to BS 7671.
